I bought this keyboard in 2012, I am a programmer and I do tons of typing.

This thing is a tank, it has never failed on me and for a few years I even carried it up and down to work in my backpack cause I just loved it enough to not care about my back (it's heavy).

I'll give it 5 stars because mechanically it's amazing and it will last you a lifetime.

HOWEVER, I have one big critique... the rubberized finish. It looks amazing and neat right out of the box, but after a couple of years it starts getting sticky and weird and it catches tons of dust... My keyboard's keycaps and bottom cover are spotless, but the top cover is a disgusting mess after 8 years because I haven't found a way to properly clean it.

it's just not a good idea for a product such a long lifespan. I'd change the top cover to be like the bottom one, plain plastic goodness.
I've been using this keyboard for so long I don't even know - about 7+ years.

I've coded over a hundred thousand lines of code, tons of documents, emails & project management stuff, and played spastic games like Team Fortress. The tactile feel is solid.

I've split coffee, water, wine and beer on this thing, in total more than 10 times, I lost count. Each time it starts freaking out, I unplug it, turn it upside down for a couple days, and plug it back in and it's begging for more.

I bought a Ducky Shine II (or 3?) and in comparison the ducky is a) mushy to type on b) has no usb ports c) is lighter (cheaper!) d) *A BUNCH OF THE LEDs STOPPED WORKING IN MONTHS*.

Honestly Nighthawk, kudos to a great product, please keep making the most tanky quality backlit mech keyboard out there.

Some niggles:
- Keys repeat sometimes until you hit the key again. This is reported by many users. Honestly at first it annoyed me but it happens very rarely (and I type A LOT). It happens like < 10 times a year or so?
- One of my usb ports no longer works apparently

Get the white lights, perfect!

The keyboard works just as advertised. I like the design and the brightness options for the LED backlighting. You guys have been super helpful throughout the process of me purchasing the keyboard. The only thing that wasn't great was that you guys didn't have the original keyboard I wanted in stock when I was shopping around. I knew I wanted a keyboard from your company since one of my friends bought one a year ago and absolutely loves it, but I was really hoping to get a blue backlit X7 instead of the X8. Unfortunately, I was in a rush as I needed the keyboard asap and figured the brown key switches would be close enough to the blues that my friend has on his X7 when I tried his out, but they are a little touchier than I initially expected and I think the more firm blues would have been better. But life is full of decisions and they're not always perfect! I appreciate your email inquiring about my experience with your product as good customer service like you have at Max is harder to come by than it should be these days.
So, about 2 years ago during a Christmas sale, I purchased this exact keyboard for my wife. This past week our cat jumped on the table and knocked a diet coke over on top of it. We were devastated, she loved this keyboard and the purple color of the lights. The entire left side of keys was not working. She took it apart while I was at work and dried it out the best she could but keys were still not working. I told her to use our back up and let it sit for a few days to see if it dries out. Tonight I've tested it and all of the keys are now working and ALL of the lights are on. Amazing. Thank you maxkeyboard, your keyboard is bad ass.
What a lovely keyboard. Amazing tactile feel, just the right amount of noise from the presses. Love the backlight and the settings on it. Such a great looking keyboard. Very happy with the purchase.

I had an astounding experience with your customer service. I ordered the green backlit but you no longer carry it so I was offered what you had in stock, blue or white, as well as a cable strap and a free keycap puller/keycap set and got upgraded to 2 day shipping to make up for the delay I think. Really happy with it. Totally recommend your company to anyone looking for a great keyboard.
Well built. Love the flat black stealthy finish. Have had Cherry browns in a previous keyboard. Love them too.

Very satisfied.
I've owned this (Max Keyboard Nighthawk X8 with Cherry MX Brown switches) for 5 months and it's always been rock solid.

The blue LEDs have not gone out. They're beautiful.

The switches are still as responsive now as they were 5 months ago, despite very heavy daily use. Due to having ordered O-ring installation with the keyboard, they make next to no noise, while giving me excellent tactile feedback and registering every single keystroke. I can't say that about many other keyboards I've used.

I tied up a large portion of the cable for my mouse to shorten it, and have it on one of the 2 USB ports; I am also using the headphone passthrough on it. I love how useful those ports are.

Using the plastic keycap puller I got with the Christmas 2014 promotion, cleaning under the keys is very easy.

There are four minor issues, however:

1. The \| key (row 2, last key) ghosts with every other key, so, for example, typing 'w' while \ is still pressed (but \'s auto-repeat delay has not yet passed) will yield \w\; typing W (with Shift) yields \|W or \|W||.

2. The Space and Backspace keys sometimes miss me releasing them, so they'll keep on being repeated indefinitely until I press and release the same key again. For spaces, backspacing the extra spaces is enough, but for backspaces, an entire line, paragraph or document may end up being erased.

3. Sometimes, the BIOS will not recognise me pressing the Del key. A paper insert in the box will tell you about this.

4. Under Linux, you may find that the Lock indicators (Num, Caps, Scroll) fail to activate.
Best there is. Have owned over a year, NOT ONE LED OUT, other companies get constant complaints on reviews about LEDs going out after just months. They use premium LEDs. I changed a lot of them to my custom needs, they didn't offer custom then, but not one of them went out either. Says a lot about the durability of the build. I took it apart about twenty times to change the leds colors to meet my needs with different games. I use the heck out of this prob as much or more than a coder. My seven year old grandson also uses the keyboard to game and he really uses it robustly, heh.

Don't hesitate, just figure out which one you want, you have found the best place to buy, the guys here are terrific to support your choosing options. Plus they have accessories to match the boards.
Fits like a glove. I will never own other, and I'm very picky.
I've had this keyboard for over two years now. I left a review when I first bought it, stressing the beauty of the keyboard, the incredibly pleasing sensation of typing on it, and it's overall awesomeness. All of this is still the case, but I wanted to leave an updated review stressing one thing I've discovered about this keyboard:

THIS THING IS BUILT LIKE A FREAKING TANK. It's borderline indestructible.

Stuffing it into an already stuffed backpack? No problem.

Having it accidentally placed at the bottom of a crowded car truck? Bring it on.

Spilling an entire glass of soda or even milk directly onto/into it on multiple occasions? Not even an issue. (and cleaning it up was as easy as popping the keys off and wiping it down while watching Hulu).

Honestly, it's like a freaking honeybadger. It doesn't even care. This thing will take whatever you throw at it (probably literally) and it will emerge unscratched. Quite frankly, it's remarkable.

So if you're a slob who ends up ruining most things on your desk, I guess this is for you. DO IT.
